Things have changed quite a bit for everyone since this global pandemic began. Other than my days at work, I’ve been staying home with the family trying to do our part in social distancing. We’ve been minimizing exposure at work as well by cancelling all routine visits, sanitizing the clinic regularly, installing protective barriers, and implementing new social distancing/safety protocols. Please note: we are still here for our patients; just because we’re in the middle of a pandemic does not mean everyone’s eye care needs suddenly stop, right? In order to meet these eye care needs while ensuring everyone’s safety, we’ve implemented telehealth into our clinic so patients have an alternative, safe way to receive care.
New to telehealth? A telehealth visit is one we can do remotely via video chat. This obviously cannot completely take the place of an eye exam but during this time of social distancing, we can address many, if not most, eye care needs this way. If after our visit we deem it necessary to have an in-person visit, we will arrange for that. With this technology, we can minimize exposure for our patients while still meeting many of your eye care needs (an additional bonus: many insurances will cover this visit). If interested in scheduling a telehealth visit with us, please call us at 714-769-6386.
This is a difficult time for many but there is a silver lining to it; now that we’re not busy spending our days going out, I’ve been spending more time with my immediate family and finding myself reconnecting with old friends through FaceTime. I was disappointed we had to cancel my son’s birthday party but we ended up having a group FaceTime session with friends so he still got his happy birthday song and had his first taste of cake (he LOVED it!). First priority now is to do our part in social distancing so we can flatten the curve as much as possible. During this difficult time though, let’s remember to be kind to one another and find new joys in our current “new normal”.
