Meet Dr. Stella Ma
Dr. Ma grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. After finding her passion and interest in eye care while working in vision research, Dr. Ma went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley and graduated with Beta Sigma Kappa honors.
Dr. Ma received her clinical training at the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System in Tacoma, WA; Stanford Byers Eye Institute in Palo Alto, CA; and Kaiser Permanente in Daly City, CA. She practices full scope optometric care and is a glaucoma-certified optometrist. She also has extensive experience working with kids in myopia management, which involves slowing down the progression of nearsightedness through overnight orthokeratology contact lenses and low-dose atropine eye drops. Prior to joining Sinchai Eye Center in 2021, Dr. Ma worked in private practice for a few years in the San Francisco Bay Area.
When she’s not working with patients, Dr. Ma enjoys traveling to new places, exploring hiking spots in Southern California, and trying new recipes. She also loves discovering new local restaurants. She is always on the hunt for good sushi spots and cafes.
